|David and Goliath|
I knew a young boy – he was twelve years old – who was assigned to read one of the great chapters in all of God`s word - I Samuel chapter 17. That chapter of the Bible contains the record of young David and warrior Goliath. The boy`s full assignment was to read I Samuel chapter 17, and when finished, write out three lessons that he learned from that story.
Later in the day, when asked if he had completed his assignment, the boy said, “Yes, and I have written down three lessons that I learned from this reading.”
Let me share with you the three lessons that boy wrote down after reading this fascinating story in God`s word:
1. Do not be afraid of someone or something bigger than you are, when you have God in your heart!
2. Never defy God!
3. Listen to younger people than yourself rather than ignoring them, because they just might be right like David was!
Wow! Are those valuable lessons to learn, or what?! Brethren, please continue to read the word of God daily because there are always inspiring lessons to learn that will help you live your life as a Christian!!

To God`s Family at Westside,
It has been 6 1/2 weeks since my surgery. The surgery went well. The cancer was well contained, no signs of spreading. There will be no need for follow-up treatments. Recovery is slow but I am making steady progress.
I don`t know where or how to begin to thank all of you for the cards of encouragement, and prayers offered up to God on my behalf during this ordeal. The best way I know how to convey my gratitude to you at Westside is to tell you that many, many times I have given thanks to God for you and for your kindness and your concern for me. God bless you. Thanks so much.
