|What Do YOU Bring to Others?|
Allen Webster, preacher in Jacksonville, Alabama and prolific writer in our Brotherhood of so many tracts, one of which is entitled “A new look at the old rugged cross” (get a copy from our tract rack in the foyer), reminds us on pp. 6 & 7 of this tract that Jesus brought JOY to so many people he came in contact with! He writes, “Jesus is pictured in Scripture as a happy person who took children into His arms, attended weddings and happy Jewish festivals, feasted with both the poor and the rich, and, to use Luke`s phrase, generally `rejoiced in spirit` (Luke 10:21). He brightened whatever corner of Palestine He visited. Parents thrilled to have Him hold their babies. Hopeless sinners went home from visits with Him thinking that tomorrow was a new day. The lame walked away from him; the deaf heard His sermons; the blind saw His face as their first sight; the sick got out of bed to wait on Him; and grieving fathers and mothers had their dead children restored to them. His disciples marveled at His power and multitudes were held spellbound by His profound mountainside speeches. An embarrassed woman had her dignity restored (John 8); a short, hated tax-collector had the King stay at his house (Luke 19), and cast-out lepers no longer needed dermatologists when they had been touched by His hands (Matthew 8). Think of all the personal happiness Jesus brought to people during His short sojourn here on earth!
As a Christian, what is it that YOU bring to others whom YOU come into contact with?
